Why are we breaking up with Google?

Give me the TLDR and most user friendly secure alternatives. I don’t want to get into the weeds, I just want to get off Google.

TBH, get Proton Unlimited.

It includes alternatives to Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Drive (cloud stoage, photos, sheets, docs, collaborative documents), Google Photos, Password Manager, Google Meet, Authenticator, and a VPN. Proton has a free transfer tool to move your Gmail account over. Then, you can use Google Take Out to move all your drive files over. (See I’m ready to move all my data out of Google!)

Quick Wins (Less than 10 min each)

Chrome → Install Brave (most similar to Chrome, easy to move bookmarks and extensions over) or Firefox/LibreWolf on your computer and phone, make them your default browsers.

Google Search → switch your default search engine to StartPage

Gmail and Google Cal → Create an account with Tuta Mail or Proton Mail. Try Temp Mail for one time use burner emails

Google Chat → Download Signal

Google Meet → Try Signal, Jitsi, Proton Meet, FaceTime

Easy Changes

Google Photos, Google Drive → local storage, a hard drive/thumb drive, Proton Drive, iCloud with ADP

Google Docs → Proton Drive

Google Calendar → (in order of most to least secure) Tuta Calendar, Proton Calendar, iCal

Any Google products you can’t get around using → Maximize your privacy settings.
